These spores go off and through mitosis, form individual multicellular gametophytes. Anyways back to your question, alt. of generation is considered the best of both worlds because of the variation of the two stages or population. Take for example the spores created by the sporophyte generation. Only one parent is needed to create many spores. This is a huge advantage (as i have learned in zoology also) because energy is not expended for sexual reproduction. The offspring will have the same genetic material as the parent in this case. This can be a disadvantage in a changing environment but in a stable environment, this will be a great advantage since one parent–>many many offspring AND ones with the SAME characteristics that allowed the parent to survive in the first place.

The sporophyte structure itself is formed from two parents or sex cells of two gametophytes. This is an expenditure of energy as it is used to create sex cells. But the sporophyte has an advantage because it has a mix of hereditary material from two genetically different parents. This allows it to survive in a changing environment.

I think it's good that you're transferring to another college in the fall, if you weren't I'd be worried, that way you won't have to deal with your mum for the rest of your life. Yes, they changed the contract….it is no longer what you signed, you can get out of paying that. Would be like being on a cell phone plan that included unlimited text, then all of a sudden they decide to no longer let you text, but still charge you the same.
