This is one of the underexposed frames from a bracketed set I used for an HDR. It brought out that great break in the cloud cover above the barn. I decided to use selective color for the end of the barn only but as I worked I got the idea to reveal part of the green. I used a soft brush setting to do the green and then made a selection of it and applied a gaussian blur to soften even more.

That is not how you do it. You desaturate the whole image and then use the history brush to bring back colour in the areas where you want it.

An image like this take only a few minutes. It has the background also blurred and noise added for more contrast with the colour.

I have never seen Schindler's List, although since that was in 96, and I was 5/6 that year, but I have heard of it, it seems like a good movie, I actually watched Pleasantville, that was the earliest occurrence of selective color I can remember, that was back in 98 I believe. and who can forget MC Hammer? Not me, they made a big deal about that one song, Can't Touch Me, personally I don't like it. Back on topic, yeah, back then it was ok to use color splash, but now, it's become a dead idea, no one can use it without being called unoriginal. It's like sex, adored by teens everywhere.

Yes, I would think so, as you appear to have a warm skin tone, so the colours will suit your skin type. the palette looks great. The way I would blend the colour is apply the copper shade over your eye socket. Then apply the darker brown colour over your eye lid, then for a smokey effect add teh light brown to the corner of your eye.

Experiment with colours and you can always pop to a retail store to sample their shades and see what suits you.

Colorize caters for the non-artists among us with almost idiot proof usability. To get started you simply drag-and-drop an image of your choosing and let Colorize desaturate it for you. Those MAC 120 palettes are not actually MAC, that's why they don't work as well.

Lots of times, people don't notice that they have oily lids, this is what makes the shadows wear away. Try using a primer or base on the eye, and like the person said above, you can also use a concealer but it should be a cream and lighter than your normal tone.

When you apply the shadow, make sure you pat onto the eye, not swipe. This will deposit the most amount of color, but tap the brush before you do because some will fall under the eye. Apply a translucent powder under the eye before hand so you can just sweep everything away. And remember, do the eyes first!

I think that is the BEST way to reflect one's overall look, if one does in fact capture the WHOLE of one's *look*–looking outside AND INSIDE, the honest facts of their lives.

In that sense, I believe my avatar is a declaration that I am at peace with myself, my life, my fate, which is a gift I would wish for anyone on the path to happiness.

I think overall the avatar system is fun, light-hearted, and I actually appreciate the somewhat entertaining way to express my more macabre reality.

I mean, where else can you find such a *cute* way to visually express that I have lost my ever-lovin' mind than that pic showing me there holding my head after it's gone and rolled off?

Gamblin is a good brand, they have different grades of paints that range in price, so if you are starting out, you buy the student grade, which basically means it has cheaper and weaker amounts of pigment. Windsor Newton is also good, not great, but I use them.
As far as colour, you will need a set of both warm and cool primaries. Each colour has warm and cool variations. Blue is a cool colour, but there are blues that are warmer than others. This will help when you are mixing, because there are some colours you will not be able to achieve if you simply use either warm or cool. So, for cool I suggest Cadmium Red Light, Ultramarine Blue, and Azo Yello. Warm: Quinacridone Red, Pthalo Blue, and Cadmium Yellow. Then you might want to pick up some secondary colours, in particular greens, for me mostly because Da Vinci considered green a primary colour. if you want some violets, and some oranges, then use your judgment, but give priority to earth tones such as burnt/raw umber, burnt/raw sienna. White and Black are also essential for starters so that you can vary tones. I myself rarely mix in either white or black from the tube. I make my own black using equal amounts of Burnt Umber, Crimson Red, and Prussian Blue. And to lighten colours, I often use Neapolitan Yellow, but at times Titian or Zinc White is necessary.
To make skin tones, it will be essential to use white, especially for areas of highlight. Good Luck.

Sadly, I fear the worst for this family. It seems to me that Jessie Davis is the focus – not her son or the baby girl. Whoever struggled with her in the house obviously chose to not harm the little boy. Also, if it were a case of someone wanting to steal the unborn child, I would expect there to be blood evidence at the house and perhaps even Jessie (alive or dead), minus the baby. For her to disappear with the house in disarray and her son left behind suggests to me that she was taken away forcibly and is probably now dead. Which also means that her unborn daughter is also probably dead. It is a heinous crime. My heart already hurts for her family.

I hope that I am wrong, but I doubt it. If you look at the statistics, murder rates go up dramatically for pregnant women, and the most likely killer is the unborn child's father.

I pray for her family to have some closure soon and for whoever did this to be brought to justice. It takes a special kind of sick to kill a baby, and there is no punishment too severe.

I had the S2950 but I didn't like it. It had a marginal lens and long shutter delay. I replaced it with the SX130IS and it is a much better camera.

I would go for the Canon as it has manual exposure control, where the Nikons do not.

I don't think there is a "software" for the camera. Might be a firmware, but I don't think it will add features.

All the selective coloring and color accents can be minipulated in photoshop/ other photo tools.

They sell open cell foam-like sheets which go under area rugs just for this purpose. You should be able to find them at any major department store that sells rugs.
